    Straight Axle Air Vent Hose

Does anyone have a good place to buy the CORRECT Air inlet hose for the heater on the early cars. It seems that the spacing of the wire reinforcement is critical. I could sure use some help.
    Thanks in advance.

Guy's...I drove 3 hours each way to Gary's house for a correct fresh air hose for my "61 and left empty handed. He is a fantastic person to be with, a great source for Corvette parts, but make certain that you describe exactly what you want including the spacing of the wire wrap.

Really hate making this post, but I think that Gary will understand.

Gary, I'm going by the "61-"62 judging manual page 69 which identifies 4 different photos. #'s 1,2,& 3 imply correct spacing range from 5/8'' to approximately 3/4", whereas photo #4 of 3/8" as incorrect. gary has item #4.

Las, in '56-7 we look for 1/2"~ spacing. The hose I bought from Pronesti was almost 9/16" and had the proper "friction tape" finish to it. Compared it to an original piece and it matches quite nicely. JMTCW, Gary....

Gary, I'm glad to hear that you received the correct hose, but the one that I measured was not close to 9/16". It was 3/8". The only point that I am making is to ask the questions before placing this order. Gary has the largest supply of parts that I have seen in one place, so I hope that we continue using him for our restorations.

Just to show what a great guy he is, after driving the 3 hours to his house, I realized that I forgot my wallet and he didn't care. He trusted me to send a check.

Las, no problem. Never checked the 61-2 JM hose wire spacing. Now I'm curious. Gary usually goes the extra mile to help when/where he can. Thanks, Gary....

I'll probably see you in January. What is the dead line for registration at Kissimmee?
