What is the finish on the fuel filler neck (the part screwed to the top of the tank that the cap attaches to)? Zinc plated?

Re: 69 fuel filler neck...zinc plated?
Your next question will be: "Where can I find someone to plate tin on my filler neck?"
My conclusion was...If I can't readily find someone that plates tin, or if it's an exorbitant amount of cost and trouble, then my options are (1) leave it in it's original weathered condition and take the condition hit, or (2) I can use easily available zinc and make it look new again.
I prepped the neck by bead blasting (dulls down the plated finish) and had it zinc plated. I believe it's a reasonable facsimile...one has to chose one's battles carefully; Or alternately, How much is a judging point worth?- Top

Thanks again Chuck, I agree that we have to make choices. The car came with a new in box NOS fuel tank which just makes the old filler neck look worse!

Mike - I agree with Terry. A number of years ago, took a mid-year coupe fuel filler neck and dipped it in dilute acid and assayed the solution using emission spectroscopy and tin not zinc or cadmium was found. Pete- Top
