Why has the car for sale post not been pulled

There has been a post from the other day that is clearly and add for a car for sale. Why has it not been removed from the site or are we going to allow for sale items? I have some parts I would like to offer. No offense to the originalperson posting just trying to assure an even playing field of the "discusssion board"

Keith, educated reason is that probably none of we moderators saw it. We can not read every post. If you wouldn't mind posting the thread I'd appreciate it. The moderators heavily rely on member input and feedback. Gary....

Here it is, Gary. I pointed it out several days ago to a moderator who told me this post is a grey area. There is no grey to it. I told the moderator that, in effect, a non member can have their car sold here but, a member can't.

I personally don't see any problem with the original post. As I read it, the guy found something that the people on this board might be interested in, and posted it. If I needed another car, I'd really appreciate it. Consider the alternatives; either do what he did, let the thing sit there and deteriorate some more, or post a "For Sale" ad for something he doesn't own. I don't get some people.

The stock answer would be "Post it in the Driveline" ( without pictures )but it would be gone before we rec'd the issue....Rules are rules....ask Roy

Thought i'd get my two cents in before the post is deleted

              Dennis,

I agree. I've had/have some great cars too. If I decide to sell them, do you think I should post them here so my fellow member's will have first shot?

Do you think a "classmate's" car should be posted here but, a member's car shouldn't. What do you think, Dennis?

I have no problem with this post, informative to see old vette not discovered for so long. Mods will do their job when they see something needing to be done, not my job to police this site in my opinion.

Kinda like the elections yesterday. It takes time........NCRS finally got this site up and running just two or three years ago. I am sure "CARS FOR SALE" Section will happen.

Aren't there better things to do, than inform on our neighbors? The post was fine. Some sales threads might liven the place up!

That did'nt look like a "For Sale" post to me. It was more like one of those great barn find posts we occasionally get to see.

Re: Why has the car for sale post not been pulled

Sounds like a for sale post to me. I'm all for it and support it all the way. Thing is, I want all the membership to be able to do the same. It surely wouldn't be right that a non member car could be posted here for sale and a member car couldn't.

He says a classmate contacted him about the car, is the classmate the caretaker? If the classmate isn't the caretaker then why does anyone need to contact the classmate? If it is truly a barn find that needs to be posted here for the greater good of the entire membership, why isn't the contact information placed in the description? Why would we need to contact the original poster or his friend/classmate for more information? I was born at night, it just wasn't last night.

Like I say, I'm all for it as long as all dues paying members get to enjoy the same benefit.

                        Regards,

                        Mark

Look at it from the other side, Mark. If it is a "for Sale" ad (and it technically isn't because there is no direct contact info and no listed price IMHO), then the dues paying members of this forum are getting a chance to possibly get a good buy on that car. First dibbs, I believe.

Sorry, but when I read the post and responded it it did not dawn on me as a "For Sale" posting? I guess because of no price and contact to buy?

I read it as a posting "of interest to Corvette enthusiasts" of the very poor condition of one of our beloved Corvettes. As I am always saddened to see any Corvette that has fallen into such a condition of dis-repair. I know people may and do have sometimes good reasons for it, but it still makes me sad.

In my mind, it's a For Sale ad. That is just my opinion. I ain't saying I don't like it, I'm just saying we should all have an opportunity to do the same. I would dearly love to sell cars and parts on this site because it would target the most qualified and knowledgeable buyers. I am sure there are revenue issues with that thinking, but, hopefully those issues can all be worked out such that we can have a For Sale section here.

In the meantime, I think it should be a level playing field. That way, nobody has to word an ad in such a grey shade. However, I might try it...
