    Corvettes in Italy

    Hi Guys,

This past week I had the great pleasure of traveling through Italy. While in Sorrento having dessert in a cafe, I noticed on the wall a bunch of vintage pictures of the cafe. My eyes took a double take, but sure enough there was a 65 SB Coupe in one of the pictures.

I approached the manager and asked him about the picture. It ends up the picture is dated 1970 and the owner of the cafe owned the car. He does not have the car any longer nor did the manager know where the car went.

I took a picture of it but I have not had a chance to upload it yet. I will do it shortly!

    Best,
    Dave

      Dave,

I also recently spent two weeks in Italy. Kept my eyes open for anyone driving a Corvette and by chance did spot 'one' C6 parked along the road side between Positano and Amalfi.

I had the pleasure of renting this:

Actually it was a blast to drive!
For the technical part of the post the Fiat Panda got close to 50mpg!

        Kevin,

Positano and Amafli are beautiful places. We took a bus tour down the Amalfi Coast but it was torrentially raining and foggy which put quite a damper on what would have been an incredible sightseeing tour.

I promise the picture is coming soon!

We had better take this to PMing or some members might be offended by the non technical nature of the posts..............

              Kevin,
I am glad that you enjoyed driving the Fiat. If you really enjoyed the handling and the gas mileage, maybe you should sell me your LT1 and buy the Fiat. I know they dont sell them in the USA yet, but with the money you get from the LT1, you could import one.

                Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the delay in posting the picture. Anyway here it is. Pretty cool if you ask me.

As for the technical side, being that Sorrento is right on the water, how badly rusted do you think the frame is right now?

                Best,
                Dave

I spent two weeks in Maranello in 1973 watching my Ferrari Daytona Spyder being built, and recall seeing a '67 convertible and and a chrome-bumper C3; saw a couple more when I drove it to Genoa to ship it home.

I was there again in 1999 (took six of my Viper craftspersons there for one of our exchange visits with Ferrari), only saw one C5.
