70 wiper arm linkage finishes and lubrication

This is the linkage between the motor and the transmissions.

What was the finish on the arms, nuts, and the metal pieces that you tighten down on to keep the linkage on the stud?

What is the best grease to use when I reassemble linkage? What do I torque the nuts to when I attach them?

    Thanks, Bill

Bill, I can't confirm from my notes, but it appears from the AIM (Sheet 1D6) that the transmissions came pre-assembled as a unit. Since the linkage arms were dip painted in GM black primer, that means the plates were likely dip painted with the assemblies. Note: There should be a thin formed copper bearing plate between each steel retainer plate and the "ball" on the motor shaft, total of (4).
