    1976 engine suffix label

okay guys- ive had my 1976 vette judged twice and both times ive got dinged for no engine suffix label- ive investigated many parts catalogs -they list all but "1976" - ive discussed with several firms that restore vettes - they came back and said 1976 did not have one - thanks keep up the good work.

....hopefully next week I'll be viewing on of McDorman's cars for auction. A Yellow '76 coupe, L-82 4spd with 73 ORIGINAL miles is one of the cars. I'll try to remember to look. I do remember 1975s had a different type of "computer label", not like what the early '70s cars used with the block letters and yellow background.

This is the only thing on my 1976 Corvette. Just this chalk marking on the front of the driver's side valve cover. I have serviced this car since the mid 1990s when it had approximately 10,000 original miles. There was never anything else on the engine other than this chalk marking. No suffix sticker that I ever saw.

The car has 48,000 miles currently.

I have seen a 1976 label on a low mile car that showed up at the 2008 Motor City Regional. It is different than previous years (74 and earlier).

I don't remember ever seeing one on my new '76 I bought in December of '75. I think I would have noticed it. I had the car for five years.

Never seen a engine suffix label on a '76.

I've never had the car judged. The car was produced in late October 1975.

Stephen, yes I did and it did not have an engine suffix label. Car had 78 original miles, was an L-82 and had aluminum valve covers too. Didn't see a label on the 9 mile '78 Silver Anniversary, the 189mi '75 roadster or the 2400mi White '77. For whatever reason, none of them had it. Could have even "dropped off" due to age.
