Bring Dealer info searches back here.

I'm noticing that the number of people monitoring this board is usually 10 times the number of people on the Dealer info search board. How do we expect to help out our fellow members find info if no one sees the requests?

If it was part of this Discussion board there would be a better chance that someone would recognise the dealer and be able to help.

You are exactly CORRECT!! That is why I am suggesting we move the Dealer info back here where more people will see it.

You misunderstood me, maybe cause I can't spell. I meant that you are in the minority in thinking it should be here on this board. I for one am glad I don't have to sift through lots of questions about dealers who no longer exist. This is a Technical Discussion Board. I think the NCRS did a good thing in giving the issue it's proper due, it's own place. Much easier to go through it that way.

Terry, I didn't misunderstand you. You sort of made my point. Pleae hear me out. And by no means take this personal. I'm trying to help fellow members not insult you in any way.

It makes no difference whether the dealer is in business still, sold, moved or defunct. What our fellow members need is that 1 person who may remember something about that dealer. Also even if the member of NCRS is also a member of a local club someone in that local club may remember an old employee of the dealership.

Anyone who is not involved or interested can just float right by the thread and move on to something they are interested in. I do that every day I log into the board.

          Thanks for listening, Joe

I'm in the minority with you Joe.

Since the dealer info has been moved, I think I checked the separate forum once.

I was also "one" member that remembered a long gone dealership in the neighborhood I grow up in and reached out to the member that had posted his request for any information out there, (on the main forum).

            Regards,

Re: Bring Dealer info searches back here.

I'll bet the reason you don't see the numbers tapped into the dealer info page of this forum is because people drop it, scan the subject lines, and then drop out if there is nothing they can help with. People just don't hang out there.

I think the separate forum is great. I've posted there and recieved some fantasic help. Don't forget your best chance of getting additional info on your dealer is from someone in that town... Email the chamber of commerce, the city library, or even run an ad in the local paper. You also can put a FREE ad in the Driveline and reach EVERY NCRS member instead of the small percentage that log on here.

My two cents is if the dealer info. is a nuisance, Just by-pass it.

Tracy, You're right on with the additional leads to find people. Members of my local chapter went to their local Club and found people who could help me out.

But, they show up as un-read and it's a PITA clicking them open/then closed just to remove them from your read list...

I've helped 1 person with some dealer info and have some for cars going back to 1955. The chances of me visiting a separate dealer only forum are ZERO. NCRS, suit yourself.

Re: Bring Dealer info searches back here.

Early on it was cluttered, now we are beyond most of this and those few dealer info requestes really need to be where evey one hangs out - here.

Think of this just like the reason C1-2-3 are all together and even C4-5-6 are not separate, you just skip over those posts.

If you think about it, C1 has had a real anchor with a certain group, C2's another and in the last couple of years you are seeing more interest in C3's, even to the point I pulled out some original stuff from the 70 I had back then.

If a small group were to look at the good and the bad of other car forums, especially competing forums, the best I see in the NCRS DB is that at any time of day, people are hanging out, you won't see that if you put on a C2 only forum, nor a c3 as other sites do and the same logic applies to keeping it all in the family with what is here. The gold rush is over, time to go home.

You are exactly right! I check it every day but if I don't have any Info. I come back here. Maybe it's "Hay everybody look at my dealer post" With NO exeption every other web site Hemmings, The Driveline has different fourms/sectoins for different posts. I have not hear anyone suggest that the Drivelin be not seperated. Look at the CF they have a ton.

It only takes a second using the "forum jump" button right below the last post in this thread to jump over to the Dealer Search forum, scan the inquiries on the first page, and see if any inquiry jumps out. If anyone who reads this Board is not willing to take a few seconds to look at the other Forum, they probably are not interested in helping out on dealer info anyway.
You are not going to see people camped in the Dealer Search forum like you see on this Board. Pop in, scan it, help if you can and pop out. I like the separate forum for Dealer seaches, and leave this Board for tech stuff and judging questions.
