67 Hood Release Cable - Repair?

Is there a way to replace the wire on a 67 hood release cable? I have my original, but the wire broke after 40+ years of use and is now too short. I can't see an easy way to remove the wire and replace it.

Kirk, Very good question, I believe the big box cc or paragon sell the cable separate and can tell you what is involved to replace it.

If you just need 1/4" or so you can cut back the coiled sleeve to expose the 1/4" of wire you need. If it is more than that you can not get away with this fix as the entire cable will be too short to reach it's mounting point.

Cable is too short to as it broke off where it mounted previously. So, I would need to replace it. It is also the cable that comes from the lever in the car, NOT the one that runs from latch to latch.
