If your car was built in late January you need a block with a A 62 date or a K or L 61 date. A November 62 date was in a 63 car as new cars came out in September. I may have a 61 dated block and I beleive I know where a complete Vette motor RD stamping but not sure of date. If interested call 541-218-7754.

That Impala engine was a score for you. Even if you don't use the block everthing else is usable, bolts, heads, timing cover, oil filter, etc. All these parts add up quick. The bad news is you are missing two big ticket items, the fuel pump and the carb. The fuel pump costs $300 - 450 and the carb $300 - 500 for a core and $800 - 1000 for a restored one. Now the terrible news, many of these high priced parts are counterfeit. I've been watching ebay for the past year or so looking for these same pieces and have arrived at the conclusion that most are re-stamps, although someone got what appeared to be an original 4656 fuel pump off ebay this week for just over $100.
