    C60 AC bracket to block - 1966

Is there someone that has an original 1966 AC car that could tell me what the head mark, bolt length, hardness is on these bolts that hold the AC bracket to the block, please???

    Part number is 180122.

    Hi Ron,

Good timing, I'm cleaning mine right now (soaking). Mine are not 1966, but the same bolt number is in the 1967 AIM for a 327 engine with C60 (UPC C60, Sheet C1). Looks like there are three of them.

I will check mine and post back here,

    Scott

      3/8-16 X 1", zinc plated, GM 280M material (SAE grade 5; 3 radial lines).

As far as headmarks, I don't know. However, for this size bolt, I expect there were NUMEROUS suppliers.

Unless I'm measuring the wrong bolts (only matching set of three bolts in my AC bracket part bag), mine are longer than the ones Joe quoted. Could they have changed the bolt size from 1966 to 1967 (thicker bracket requiring longer bolts?) and retained the same part number?

I have three. Not sure of the thread pitch, but the thread diameter is 3/8" x 1-1/4 long, measured from the underside of the hex-head to the end of the shank (flat tip). They are all three Grade 5 (3 radial lines), and all three bear the "UR" headmark, where the right side of the "U" overlaps the left side of the "R".

No, my standard parts catalog actually lists GM bolt # 180122 and says it's 1" long. My mistake.

I don't know where my three 180122 bolts are, and I don't know what these three that I have are, either.

            Thanks Joe, for the specs,

This same bolt was used to secure the alternator bracket.

            Scott...

            I'm in this same dilema,

I pulled and untouched grade 5 UR that was 1 1/4" out because I though it was an after market bolt. The other was a WB - everyone likes WB bolts and now I can't find that bolt!

Over the years I have found that GM bolts of a particular part number and of a specified length are actually longer than the specified length. Of course, in PRODUCTION it might be that for whatever reason a different part numbered bolt was used than was called out in the AIM. However, I have purchased bolts from GM of a particular part number (so I know that I'm getting that particular part number) and the bolts were longer than the GM spec. Why this happens I have no idea.

I went to look at mine so I could tell you what my head markings were , just in case they changed from 66 to 67.

Found the brackets, can't find the bolts !

                The search is on !
