My friend has an all original 1969 corvette that he has owned since the late 70's Its a 427-390hp M-20 car with a 3:70 gear ratio from the factory? The rear end is the original to the car even the tank sticker and the protecto plate reflect it as being correct. I thought with the L36 and a M-20 your only rear gear choices would be 3:08 or 3:36? Could it possible that other choices where available? I spoke with a gentleman one time that his L36 M-20 had 4:11 gears Was it possible???

A 1969 L-36 with M-20 was not officially available with 3.70:1 rear gear. Is it possible that it could have been built this way? Well, if the tank sticker, protectoplate, and rear end assembly code all confirm that's what was originally installed AND confirm that the car was originally an L-36 with M-20, then I guess it is possible. Just about as possible as anything can be.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Here's a link to the 1969 sales brochure. There is an engine, transmission, and gear ratio chart on one of the pages.
