    C5 Serv. Tire Mon. System

Trying to figure out what is really wrong with our 2002. When starting the engine, the Display shows Serv. Tire Mon. Sys. I have to hit the reset button to clear the message. The tire gage display shows no pressure in any of the tires. My GM dealers says the 'receiver' is bad because his device shows all of the wheel sensors are o.k. The 'receiver' also controls the door locks which work just fine with the remote. A search for a new GM receiver shows no parts available in the US. Any work around anybody
knows of to at least get rid of the Serv. Tire Mon. Sys message on start up? Gets aggrivating having to hit the reset button each time I start the car.

    Thanks, Bill

    Hey Bill !

I would agree that the receiver is bad. Even though your locks are operating as they should, you can still have a faulty receiver not reading the tire pressure.

I did check this morning and confirmed no current availability of the receiver from GM.

Bill, Has anyone tryed to go into D.I.C and relearn the tire moniters, all you need is a magnet to put around the valve stems. to scramble the signals for each tire moniter, the order of relearn is told by the D.I.C. It is pretty easyand if you have a magnet that is made in a circle to fit around the valve stem, I used one from a transmisson pan. Or even sometimes there in rear diff covers also.

        Programming a tire sensor
        1) Turn on the ignition, but don't start the engine.
        2) Press "Reset" button in order to clear any IPC display warning messages.
        3) Press and release the "Options" button on the Driver Information Center (DIC) to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank.
        4) Press and hold the DIC "Reset" button for 3 seconds.
        5) Press the "Options" button again until tire TRAINING message appears.
        6) Press "Reset" button until the IPC "Learn L Front Tire" message appears in order to begin the programming.
        7) Install the J41760 Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) System Programming Tool (large magnet will do) over the left front valve stem.
The horn will sound, indicating the left front TPM sensor is programmed. (if this takes more than 15 seconds, pull magnet
back and try again; it will give you three tries, before you have to start over)
        9) When the horn sounds, proceed to program the next TPM sensor in the following order as directed by the IPC messages:
        -Learn R Front Tire-Learn R RearTire-Learn L Rear Tire

Programming can be canceled by turning ignition off, waiting 2 minutes with no sensors being learned, finishing all 4 wheels or through the DIC. If the programming is canceled with less than 4 sensors learned, it will only accept the codes programmed up to that point.

Tom, it doesn't get any easier with your response.

That procedure is the common technique. Can't take credit for writing it, just posting it !!
