    Ncrs Board Members Do Listen

I want to thank the NCRS staff. There was heated discussion about a new forum but I think that there were enough side topics that warrant another non technical topics to warrant a new forum. Our executive board dose listen.
    THANKS GUYS KEN BARRY

Don't worry, it will NEVER happen because it would degrade the value of the Driveline and therefore the NCRS would lose all those precious advertising dollars.

              Hi,
Are you talking about the Dealer Search Forum, or is there something else new that I don't know about?
              Regards,

                Jim & Bill,
Help me out, why in the world would somebody who is selling Corvette parts limit themselves to the NCRS web site when the volume of potential buyers is astronomically larger on ebay or the web in general? I have never understood
the call for an online for sale section. The printed Driveline is a good source for people who don't use the internet but if you are going to place and online ad why choose such a small market?

                  Pete,
My thoughts are that with a for sale section here, one would be dealing with like minded people who have integrity and honesty not found on the other site where you have no idea what/who you're buying and no recourse if you get ripped off. And don't forget about all the fees if you sell elsewhere that requires the use of PayPal. That's 12 % plus the listing fee.

Oh, that's a very easy question that can best be answered by a simple example (which I've heard will NEVER happen unfortunately BTW )...
Who would you rather buy a very valuable and supposedly NOS Corvette part from?...Joe Lucia or some con-artist on eBay that has posted small out-of-focus pictures.

Sadly eBay allows all sorts of shenanigans to happen even though they claim to be a "safe marketplace"...if you haven't been burned on eBay, that just means you haven't bought very much stuff and it just hasn't happened to you YET. eBay allows cowards to hide behind a multiple usernames with zero traceability or accountability to the buyer. NCRS requires your FULL name and NCRS membership number.

Furthermore, if you SELL something on eBay you are probably selling to somebody trying to make additional profit on it. If you sell something here, especially after following some related threads, you will know that the part will be put to use by a fellow member to make his/her car better.

We got this far OK. BABY STEPS. For sale /parts wanted/for sale will not happen as long as the magazine is published for the reasons stated above. Do you all want to pony up for the dues that it would take to make up for lost revenue from adds?

Why not use a portion of the revenue from the hard copy ads and use it to put those same ads on a NCRS "for sale" site?

How could a Vendor get PO'd if his ad is listed in two places.

Also - the HTML tags from an ad are visble to the whole internet, so a search would bring up the listing on the NCRS site. Maybe even bring more attention to NCRS in the process.. FREE ADVERTISING!!

And for what it is worth I gladly pay an extra $20-$30 a year to have the website fuctionality.

Once the site area is added to TDB home, there are no longer any costs involved. Plus -- it don't take a heck of alot of $$$$ to add a section to an existing site (I own a computer consulting IT company... I know).

When I have some Corvette parts to sell I list them in the Driveline and on the Corvette Action Center first since these are my people. If there is no interest I will advertise further. I'm usually in no hurry to sell and would rather help out members of my own group first.

why not a "WANTED" site that way if someone has a part to sell he can contact the person who is looking for the part ? a "FOR SALE" site would be a waste of band width as what someone has for sale may not be wanted by anyone. JMHO as i neither buy or sell.
