I'm currently looking at a 75 without a VIN on the block. I was told the block was milled to get a little more power out of it. The casting date is K203. If records serve me, this is Nov 20 1973. I believe this to be a NOM but the owner insists that it is original; the eng was a surplus from the 1974 model year. The birthdate of his car is July 07, 1975. This doesn't add up to me. Am I wrong?

Re: verification usingCasting date
Alex, generally cast dates are only weeks(4to6) before the hit the production line those dates do seem to be way to late.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: verification usingCasting date
Agree with Ed.
I would also check the casting dates on the cylinder heads and any other engine components. This may help in determining what actually occurred with this engine.
I would expect 18 months for a complete original engine to sit around waiting for a car body is way to long. Maybe its a CE block or over the counter block.....or from another car.

Re: verification usingCasting date
Thanks for the input. I sorta knew that I was getting bad info especially after reading another thread regarding casting dates and assembly dates, but I wanted to get advice from someone with more experience at this- Top
