    New Forum "Dealer Information Searches"

As has been requested and discussed here it has been determined that a new forum just for Dealer Information Searches related to or sparked by the Historical Document Services is warranted at this time.

When the volume slows down we may need to move all of these posts back into the main forum and delete the new one, but for now we will try this method.

Please direct all posts related to finding or providing information about dealers and finding the history of your car(s) to the new forum. Thanks!

Re: New Forum "Dealer Information Searches"

An excellent move! I was getting bored watching a jillion calls for info on this/that dealership...

MOST are discovering that 40-50 year old leads back to the ordering dealership wind up being a dead end despite the current car owner's newfound enthusiasm.

For those who have run 'aground' trying to use this forum to squeeze out information, consider the following alternatives:

        (1) Hire a private investigator

        (2) Take out an ad in the local newspaper from the original dealer's site

        (3) Be prepared to PAY for valid information vs. expect something for nothing...

Thanks!, I'm ready to start over. My report had no dealer name, number or address. It stated Chevrolet Zone Order as dealer w/ non existant number 0 in zone 27. In 2000 a private investigation agency gave me Ray Weil, Amherst/ Buffalo NY as the delivered dealer. This is several hundred miles away in the same state as zone 27 but in zone 12. Thanks #19259

Ironically, the dealer code number on my report differs from the one on my original paper work that I received upon delivery. It's a matter of the last two digits being transposed, but still shakes the faith after all these years.

Re: New Forum "Dealer Information Searches"

Got my shipping data report yesterday. The production date calculator was off two days, Jan. 5, 1967 was the actual date vs. Jan. 3 from the calculator. I was a bit relieved since I was hoping my car wasn't built after a long holiday weekend. The current name of the selling dealer was easy to track down, still in the same location, just a few name changes. I've e-mailed them about old records, hope I get a response. Thanks, NCRS!

                Jon,
Is it possible to edit the dealer information? After I received my Delivery report, I entered Spence Chevrolet Zone 26, Dealer 462, and have since found additional information about them that I would like to add.

                    Kenneth,

If you would like to edit what you have previously entered send me the information and I will make the changes for you. admin@ncrs.org

I will need the Zone and Dealer Code and the information that needs to be updated.

We are looking at the option of letting members edit the information that they have posted.

                    Several pros and several cons.

That would be really helpful as I have entered information on a Phoeniz, AZ dealer and subsequently discovered that the street number I entered is incorrect.

I can understand the motives for a member acquiring information about their car, however this whole issue has got out of hand!

This is a technical board not "do you know where my car came from?"
