    Radiator ID

My radiator has what I expect is a date coded 8 2 L stamped under the 3155316. I searched some of the old posts and assume the "L" is for December? Is that correct? What does the 8 2 stand for?

Thank you in advance for the help.

That's a date code format that I'm not familiar with for 3155316 radiators. It must be an early 3155316 type of coding. In any event, I do not believe that "I" was used in the coding system so "L" would represent November. Are you sure the "8" is not a "6"? If so, the coding would be "62L" which would decode to November, 1962 (and be the expected date code format). If the coding is actually "8 2 L", then I expect it decodes to November 8, 1962, but, as I say, that's a format I'm not familiar with for a radiator.

      Or it's 1982 November?

Good point Harry; how long did Harrison continue to make replacement radiators? I have a replacement in my 63 dated in 1975 as my original sprouted holes like the Tivoli Fountain due to a chemical reaction between different brands of coolant.

Thanks for the information. The car was mfg in Dec. of '62 - so the November of '62 would make me happier than '82.

I know, but the standard code was a two digit year followed by an alphabetic month. Can you post a picture.

Harrison was making the 3155316 radiator at least as late as 1982. However, they had ceased production before 1992. So it could be 1982 if the coding is actually "82L".

I can't get to the car every day, but I will post a picture as soon as I can. Thanks for all the information / insite into the topic.
