    63 Hardtop Plexiglass

I have the original non-notched hardtop for my early 63. At some point the plexiglass was replaced with a piece with a 64 date. Does anyone make correct repro plexiglass for these or restore tops?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Michael, give:

http://www.autoentec.com/ a call. They should be able to help.

Mike, the owner a pilot, who just passed in an airplane crash had some great connections in the aircraft Plexiglas business. His windows were and are still excellent. His wife and staff are to keep the business running.

I plan to continue to use them.

        Good Luck

Call 412-264-4892 and ask for Beth, etc at Auto-Entec. Typically there is a nice ad in "The Driveline".
The first part Ted ever made for the hardtops was the rear glass for his 58. Being a pilot he had connections in the airline industry. JD

            Michael--
Do you know that it's the original to the car? My guess is that it's a 64 top. I know there are disputes about the notches, and widely varying opinions.

              Re: 63 Hardtop Plexiglass

Michael, I tend to agree with Mike. All early 63's had notches. If there are no notches it's either late or a 64. Is there a metal support riveted through the plexiglas in the top rear or bottom rear. If yes, then it was produced after april 1963.

Also, if you feel like taking it apart, the job number is written in crayon under the molding just above the rear window. So, if you know the job number of the car, then to help, the same job number should be on the top. Next to the job number is written what color the top was to be painted.

Question. Doesn't "autoentec" buy their windows from Glassworks in Pa.?

The owner of Autoentec was the prior owner of Glassworks. It's a long story, too long to go into. There may be a business relationship but I doubt it.

Well, apparently it's a 64. It has triangular reinforcements and rivets through the plexiglass. Thanks guys, now all I have to do is find a 63

I have a hardtop that was removed from car # 449-1963. It dose not have a notch nor any rear clips. Date unreadable.

Hi Michael.....I have a nicely preserved early '63 HT. It has the notches, no reinforcements, nice original headliner but needs some restoration work. If interested send me an email microvette63@aol.com
