57 Engine Pad Stamping

I am inspecting a 57 Corvette engine pad stamping that is in serial #3908 car with a BD of 5/9/57. The 5 stamped characters are F128F. There is no other letter after the F.? I don't know why the rest of the two digit code was not stamped. The motor block is a 548, the casting date is A257. The motor is connected to an aluminum 4-speed. The bell housing is cast iron but date is F117. Therefore; this could have been a powerglide car. SO, what should be after the letter F to complete the code? Any ideas?

a suffix of F indicates a passenger car origin for this 548 block. mike

MIke is right on track, as usual. F suffix in 57 is a 2 barrel, powerglide, in a passenger car.

This 57 has a alum GM trany coupled to a cast iron bell housing (F117) and a 7014800 model FI 250 hp and 283 hp heads. It is a cobbled up chassie from what I have seen so far. Serial # puts BD at 5/9/1957.
