    Control arm shafts

I know the uppers can be black or natural and mine appear to have been black but why are the lowers always natural? Were they not sourced from the same place? Why the difference?

My strong suspicion is that lowers were deemed to be more-or-less "invisible" to the customer (or, prospective customer). The uppers were quite prominent with the hood open (which most Corvette buyers would want to do). A buyer seeing rust anywhere under the hood might not have been something that GM wanted to take a chance on. So, the uppers were painted. Still, it was not always done so, perhaps, the instructions changed when someone decided it really wasn't all that important.

I hadn't thought of that. It makes since.
