    Delco-Moraine

Did Delco-Moraine ever publish a listing of Corvette part # brakes that showed the brake shoe part # that they were built on?
Did D-M have a relining service available, especially for cerrametalic and other heavy duty linings?

Loren, in the mid 70's when I worked for Maremont Corp. in production management in the brake and clutch div. We had books provided by the major manufacturers detailing their part numbers and specs. for shoes, linings, springs, cylinders, etc. We also had a Maremont cross reference publication showing the numbers and specs. as we also provided product under other mfg's names, such as Delco, Raybestos, Sears, Penney's, Midas, etc. All types brakes were included, standard and RPO's. I will look to see what I have left as I threw most of them out due to the vast amount of asbestos dust on/in them. If I have any I will post it here.

Loren, I found 5 manuals, a Grizzly (Maremont) Service Manual, a Maremont Exhaust Manual, and three Friction Materials Standards Institute (FMSI) manuals from '67, '69, and '71. I believe that is all I have left but will continue looking.

The FMSI manuals include: FMSI number, drum diameter, lining width, lining thickness, lining length, number of pieces of lining (primary and secondary), rivet info- size and rivet number. Also included is reference for bonded or riveted linings. Unfortunately only standard systems are included, no RPO's. Doesn't make since for the FMSI to only include standard systems. The info. for RPO's was in the manuals I tossed because of the asbestos. (I found some asbestos in the manuals I still have.)

As a side note we made up a set of high performance metallic linings for my '57 Corvette and my '74 VW using cashew nut oil. The oil was very heat tolerant, had a higher point for fade and recovered much quicker. We never put it into production due to the high cost of the oil. Those linings were a very light color, looked like the color of cashew nuts, even after cured. I sold the VW and 2 years later and changed the '57 cashew oil linings out for Velvetouch.

      'Sorry I can't help more.

Thanks, Steve. One of the reasons I was looking was to use it as a
        counterfeit detector....
