    Fourm For Dealer Info

I think NCRS needs a new forum for all the flood of dealer info. questions. They have already started & in month or so this forum will be clogged with them. People need to do some of the leg work on their own. The internet is a great place to look along with old city directories ETC. It seeems that everyone want to let Mikee do it.The hunt for info is like looking for that specila car. The fun is in the hunt. Just a thought. This will get out of hand fast when more & more people find their Corvette dealer.

I guess it really doesn't bother me. It is fun to see members excited about the history of their cars. It also encourages members to use the TDB as well.

Aftert the initial rush of dealer info simmers down, you'll see it taper off.

I've had a blast helping some of the guys find some dealer history !

I think this forum is the best source as a starting place for finding out more about the Corvette owner's delivering dealer. There is a fair chance that someone here will remember the dealers in their area and other information that will be extremely helpful. This is a great opportunity that owners haven't had until now in the search for their car's history. I'm enjoying it and hope I can help if someone needs information about the dealers in the West Palm Beach area way back when.

Ken, this will pass soon. Be patient, this is new and will fade away after a couple of months.

The TDB is the right place to find info and communicate with those more knowledgable. Tom put me on the right track to chase down the local historical society for my closed dealership. I never would have thought of that. I'm also hoping that they can point me toward some contact info for the past famous owner (all still a rumor at this point). I'm also now planning a trip and will seek out older members of the Chamber of Commerce. I've never searched for the history of cars and have little knowledge of how to get started. I may run into dead ends, but thanks to Tom I have direction and course of action.

Please everyone don't get me wrong. I don't have a problem with us all helping each other out with info. I got a email that was sent to our chapter president about a 69 silver/silver Corvette from a guy in PA. I had one & contacted him. I was only saying that with over 600 requests as of two weeks ago there are going to be thousands. I sent two in my self. I still think it would warrant a separate forum that is sort of a lost & found. I have a 69 427/435 & a 67 350HP/AC motors I would like to get back to the original cars.
The Restorer has a Info wanted section why not here. This would be faster?

Looking at all of the requests made me think about a dealership here in central NJ that changed names and then went out of business. I thought I would check in the Dealer Codes section to see if it was listed. To my surprise it wasn't so I added the info that I could. Perhaps now this will be used by someone to keep them on the trail.

I too received my shipping info, and added it to the zone/ dealer base, in hopes of helping someone else. Not for anything, it's a great shot in the arm for this. People helping people thru a venue we all love, the Corvette. It only takes a couple of minutes of your time to contribute, but we all profit from your addition in making this the most comprehensive data base that any car could possibly ever have.

And don't forget the search function. In a year or two when multible dealers have been discusssed and someone finds out theirs, they will be able to do a search and contact someone to see what they came up with.

It needs to be online either here or a seperate place for it. But we need to talk about it. The more info available the better.

Ken, have you put the VIN numbers of these motors in the TDB??? To Keith's point below, I often point people to do a search of this site when looking for their missing engines, trans or trying to find their old cars, etc. The internet is great, but it's only as good as the information (hopefully accurate) that people choose to put out there.

                  Absolutely agree.

Count me as one who is enjoying the rush of posts, the different related discussions, etc. In my opinion, this is THE place to have these discussions. The post titles have been very clear so they are very easy to ignore if that is your desire.

Side comment regarding amusing observation...I've lost count of the number of times I've seen the statement "this dealer sold more Corvettes than anyone back in the day".

Can I post the SN'S here. I thought it would be construed as a offer to sell which is not allowed on here? I am not going to give them away. I thought you only could put a add in the Restorer.
