    Al DMV

Has anyone ever tried to do the title search drill with the Alabama folks? A few states help but most don't. They don't keep the records back that far or they won't even bother with it cause its too much trouble or they think its not legal or something. Anyway, does Alabama have a track record on helping us that anybody knows of? I wish I had a football recruite to offer up, I bet I could score then.

    Hi Dale !

I was unsuccessful in obtaining any info from Alabama DMV on my 63. Not to say it can't be done, but I had no luck. I don't believe records go back that far.

They supposedly don't have records for pre-1975 cars according to there web-site.

Alabama does not issue titles for cars older than 1975. Cars older than 1975 just get a vehicle registration when the car is registered. That is your proof of ownership, which is whya lot of us don't carry the original in the car. A photocopy is acceptable as proof of registration.

Try this website from the Alabama Department of Revenue...you might get lucky

A one time Vin record is $5, plus mailing fee. Site will tell you if a record exists once you enter the VIN number.
