Rear Splash Panel Finish?

Should the back side of the rear wheel well splash panels be blacked out or natural?

This would be the surface that the power antenna assembly on the L.H. side attaches to when viewed from the back looking foward.

Ralph -- here's a shot on my late '65, viewed from the ground, looking up. No evidence of blackout on the side facing the rear. Original panels.
