Lot S78 1967 at McDorman Auction

Does anyone have a little more insight on this car? The write up on it is kind of vague, and before I go and withdraw my life savings I thought I would ask the experts. Block original ect ect. This is a huge decision for me, and I would appreciate being armed with as much info as possible before I end up putting the cart in front of the horse.

    Thanks
    Matt

After attending the McDorman show for several years now the best advice I could give anyone is to get down there prior to the auction and inspect the car you want. If distance is a problem maybe you could find somebody from the area that could inspect the car for you. Not an ideal situation. A lot of those Corvettes have not been driven in years. Many are move around with a tractor when needed. The cars are usually on display to the public 6 days a week. If it is the car you have always wanted, take a couple of days to get down there and look at the car, you can always bid by phone.

Never, ever, ever buy a car sight unseen. No matter who the seller is and what the car is. The only exception is if there is a legitimate guarantee for a refund of the purchase price and if you don't mind eating any traveling and shipping charges.

Everyone has different opinions on what excellent condition means and there are greatly varying levels of knowedge on what is correct. If you can't get there to see it, at least hire an agent who can assess the car for you.

This board is full of people who purchased cars that they found were misrepresented, either inadvertantly or on purpose. Some of these were purchased from reputable sources.

I took these pictures in September.

edit: Matthew: I remembered that Bob was interviewed in Corvette The Sensuous American for Vol. I no. 2 (1976). I just looked at the interview and this car is mentioned by Bob. He bought it from Wisconsin, and in 1976 it had 41,500 miles on it. (The window sticker is apparently not original, even though Bob's dealership was in Groveport in 1967.) He paid $6500 in 1976. (That was a lot in 1976. I remember a low mileage '67 435 convertible offered for $5000 in 1976.)

Thanks everyone I think I will drive down to the event, what have I got to loose. Now I have to figure out what to do with money, they will not accept funds drawn on a Canadian bank. Nothing is ever easy.
