p.s. it took me 20 years to figure out why my 63 came with a white shift ball (5 finger dealer swap).

    Stuart------

I don't think it will. So, I don't think there was ever even a possibility of a small block hood being used on a big block car (not that anyone has ever even said that situation occurred in PRODUCTION but if they did say that I think it would be pretty easy to prove that it never even could have happened).

Incidentally, for 1968-72 Corvettes it is NOT possible to use a small block hood with any big block installation (assuming that one also wants to use an air cleaner if not even without an air cleaner).

I didn't check but I don't believe the air cleaner sticks above the drip rail on the surround. I will check. The BB hood was probably why half of the 67'S were BB Corvettes.

Only if it is judged by Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder.

No, It is not typical factory production. There is no rivet to hold the bracket. Take yourself back to the body shop. The brackets etc. were assembled (riveted) to the inner fenders, all of the other items, flaps etc. were on the inner fender before it was installed into the shell of the front end. The completed front was then put on the body line and installed. After that the hood was installed. That un-riveted bracket just fell off on the shop floor, and we cant have that happening can we?

At least whoever installed it was smart enough to use the correct length and type bolts, though. I can't figure out what that circular pattern is surrounding most of the bracket.

The GM #3797473 bracket was available in SERVICE until November, 1977. Or, they could have just switched the bracket from side-to-side. The same bracket was used regardless of which side the hood support was mounted on.

Well I am not reading all the replies on the 67 BB hood on the SB's but at least one SB car came from St. Louie with a BB hood in 67.
Caer was delivered to Grabiak Chevrolet, New Alexandria, PA. Hood was painted all one color.
How do I know you ask? Was there when it was still on the truck. The BB hood was the talk of the area in the old days.
The owner of the garage is still kickin. I will ask Sam Grabiak, Jr if he remembers this 67.
Now to go ask Clem if he remembers the car.

The whole bracket spun when the lower bolt was installed?
