    67 C08 vinyl top

Has anyone ever stripped the vinyl off of a hard top and then painted it? I'm looking at picking up a 67 vinyl hard top. I'm not a big fan of vinyl tops. What I'm wondering is if I decide to remove the vinyl and paint it to match the car if there are any surprises or possible problems I could run into. Something like rough uneven edges, trim not fitting right afterwards, etc. I could live with the vinyl but I'd sure rather have it match.

    Thanks.

      Redline,
I have the same hardtop for my 67 and I would never strip and paint it. I think it looks far better in the the black vinyl.

I'm just gonna try to find a regular non-vinyl variety. There are lots for sale but every time I find one it seems like its on the opposite side of the country.

          Bryan,

Take a look at this post above:

Just removed my add-on vinyl and am refurbing my hardtop.

I think that if you hard C08 from the factory, the top was not painted.

But I'm asking similar questions on the hardtop.
