I have several questions about some parts for my 66 base engine. In the judging manual it states that the water pump was installed prior to engine painting. I believe the correct finish would then be orange paint. Is this correct? Also the oil pressure line and fittings are sprayed orange in my engine, should these be painted or should they be natural colored? What about the temp sending unit, should it be painted orange or not painted? The last question I have is about the oil fill tube. Mine has a dent in the left side(oriented if you are looking at the pvc valve threads). I think this is incorrect and someone dented it in the past, is this the case? Thaks for any help in advance, Bob.

The water pump was installed when the engine was painted and is painted engine orange.
The oil pressure line and fittings were installed at St. Louis and were not originally painted. I'm not sure where the temp sender was installed. However, if it was installed at the engine plant, it was covered when the engine was painted and received little, if any, paint.
There was originally no "dent" on the oil fill tube that I recall. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
