Paul------
Do you want one that actually works or do you just want one for show? These batteries were "sealed', maintenance-free type and, as such, were "wet-charged". So, even if you could find an NOS battery, the chances are it would be a "dead duck".
Beyond the above, please understand that assembly line (i.e PRODUCTION) batteries were usually different in elements of configuration and labeling than SERVICE batteries. Any NOS battery which you MIGHT find would be, by definition, a SERVICE battery. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: NOS Battery for '96?
I THINK the car has to start for flight judging, and I don't know that you'll find an original battery that will do that now. In any event, even if you do find one that will work, it will be a SERVICE battery and not identical to the assembly line battery. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

You won't find one that will get full judging credit. A current Delco replacement will get a 12-point deduction, and you can install it and forget about it.- Top

Re: NOS Battery for '96?
Paul I have a AC Delco 7 year Professional Series in my 96 LT4. This battery has a 50 month free replacement. I disconnect the NEG cable to preserve the battery when I know I will not be driving the 96 for awhile to keep the charge up. I like it.- Top

Re: NOS Battery for '96?
I have been looking for one for 1995. I have not found one yet. I put a service replace in the car. In flight judging a service replacement battery is a 50% deduct (10 points). you can get that back with the bonus points.- Top

Re: NOS Battery for '96?
I just had to replace my AC Delco 6 year Professional Series in my '95. I was a little irritated until I realized that I got the battery in either 2003 or 2004, not to bad.
The dealer wanted $90-95 to put it in. I thought that was a little high and so I talked to fellow member Joel, and he told me all it was was three torx screws and two bolts to take the panel off, and then loosen a bolt on the battery retainer. It is very tight, but the battery can be taken straight out of the car.
If I had not had a problem with the positive cable bolt corroding in the terminal, it probably would have taken me 45 minutes.
The car really starts good now- Top
