    67 Radio Knobs

    Anyone else have these plastic rings on the backside of their 67 radio knobs. My knobs are original, I assume, since they are extremely heavy and marked on the back "3897325" and "GENERAL, DETROIT". I see no markings on the plastic ring. Each radio knob had the same ring in place. Any idea what they might be - anti-static?

    Kirk, mine did not have that ring you're referring to. Not sure if those are original or not. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

      I take it no one has seen these. Not sure why someone would add them to the original knobs. Frankly, I have to admit, I never even noticed them until the judge pointed them out. Anyway, off they come! Thanks.

        Hi Kirk,

        I checked mine (January 1967 build date), no plastic rings on the backsides. Marked the same as yours, "3897325" with the "General" over "Detroit" on the back (appears to be a smaller version of the same "General" over "Detroit" manufacturing logo found on the back of the '67 nose emblems).

          Hello Kirk;
          Did someone fabricate them to create pressure on the secondary radio knobs for anti-rattle purposes ?

          Just a thought. People go to extremes to eliminate what they perceive as a rattle source.
