Gas cap for a '62

I remember the discussion recently about stolen gas caps and their value.
I find a gas cap available on ebay listed for the '62 with this description,
"new g40 correct logo gas cap from the original gm supplier. stant made the cap for gm says anti-surge vented on top and has the small stamped sms on one wing"
Is this a correct gas cap for the '62. No gm part number is listed.

David,
Three different caps were used in 62.
One by Emerson Fuller which has an F and an E stamped on the top.
the next was an Eaton cap which has sort of an embossed stylized "X" on the top. The third was by Standt.
I can't enlarge your picture so I don't know if your Standt cap is correct.
All are zinc plated and pictured in the JM..
Info is from an old NCRS judging manual dated fall of 1992.

I believe the only correct cap for the 62 MY is the Fuller & Emerson cap. The General used F&E caps exclusvly for gas caps on or about 3/61. There is a repro for the F&E cap ($250)

What a great education I am getting from all this.
My cap is the Emerson & Fuller cap as it has the E F embosed on it.
The caps on ebay are Stant caps.

these caps are very old and plating has some small areas where it has begun to deteriorate so not perfect
fits all 1953,1954,1955,1956,1957,1958,1959,1960,1961,1962 Chevrolet corvette.

Item number is 140450211302 for those interested.

I will use my original now that I know it is just that.

Aside from the other issues, clue #1 that the cap in the auction is incorrect is that it has "vented" embossed on it; all mid-'57 through 1962 gas caps were non-vented (the tank was vented separately into the filler cavity).
