Does anyone know if the (very small) number under the negative side of the coil is a date code? I have two BR 270 coils and under one terminal it reads 16 and under the other coil its 265. I just want to make sure I use the correct one for judging.

Joe my 72 L-48 has a BR 270 coil, not sure about the other numbers though. I believe that that is the only number judged other that the word Delco remey and its font.Last edited by Edward J.; October 6, 2010, 08:03 AM.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Original BR 270 Delco Remy Coils
Joe -- about 20 years ago, I got the 270-BR coil and the 1112247 4E31 distributor off a '74. Believe the coil is original (although I know zip about TFP coils on C3's).
Pic shows nothing around negative post, and "BS" around the +ve; don't know whether that's a code or a statement.

More likely a cavity number to trace a mold problem if (when) one was found.Bill Clupper #618- Top
