Does anyone know the steps to rebuild the diverter valve on the AIR pump? Mine is bad and pops out of the exhaust when I have the belt on the pump. I thought I would try to repair it before taking the vanes out of the pump.

Re: Can AIR diverter valve be rebuilt?
Repairing these valves is a specialty type of work that very few perform. The only folks that I'm aware of that ever did it were Don Dorfman of the now-defunct ASL Company and Bill Hodel. Fortunately, Bill still does this work. I would suggest you contact him. His contact information has been posted on this board many times and you should be able to find it in the archives. He also advertises in the Driveline classified ads.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Can AIR diverter valve be rebuilt?
Ken,
I would caution you on having the valve rebuilt at this point. The valve might just be "dirty" with carbon and oil on the inside causing it to not perform correctly. That happened on my 67. I cleaned the valve and it works fine. The 68 system and up worked different than the 66 & 67 system, but the valves in both systems work on vacuum to open and close. The valve can be tested manually.- Top
