Don't use Diamondback! I went through three sets trying to get a set that didn't have sidewalk welts! They were extremely uncooperative and the tires look like Heck especially in the sun. If you go with them ask about radial sidewalk blisters, dimples, whatever you want to call them, they won't guaranty you won't have them. Not an issue with Coker.

I thought we were talking about tires here. The DiamondBacks I bought were Michelin with Blue stripes which I mounted on vintage D spokes.

Jamie, are you referring to tires that Diamondback keeps in stock, or did you have these problems with tires you selected and sent to Diamondback to have a red stripe (or gold, or blue, etc.) added?

I am very pleased with my Diamondback redlines. I wanted 205-75 15's but was told 215's would work. When I received them they wouldn't. I contacted them and they issued a call ticket for the tires to be picked up. I received replacement tires 3 days later. Can't ask for more than that. Also, I bought a set for my Plymouth Hemi.

Not an issue with Coker.

The problem is that Coker doesn't have redline radials anymore. And speaking from experience on their goldline radials (two split sidewall belts in the first year), I was not impressed by the quality. About the only other redline radial is a BFG version out there at various supply houses and eBay. Think I'll take my chances with Diamond Back's Michelins.

They were Diamonback tires.
I heard some good things about Diamondback so I called them up and spoke to their salesman James. He recomended their Uniroyal tires. I received them and had them mounted and immediately i could see 2-4 large radial welts or dimples on each tire sidewall. This can be common on radial tires and usually isn't too big a deal. But on a smooth sidewall tire with a redline that is supposed to emulate a bias-ply they looked like crap.
That weekend I took the car to a show and no less than 7 people walk up and said "whats wrong with your tires" they stuck out like a sore thumb. Not a good feeling when you just paid $1000 for tires.
I called James 10-12 times and sent him a dozen emails to express my dissatifaction and none were returned. I finally called and threaten legal action and he took the call. They would do nothing, I finally got the owner to take back the tires if I bought replacements. James then recommended their Goodyears. I had to pay for frieght both ways and the difference in price. So another $340 later I had the Goodyears. When mounted they were WORSE than the Uniroyals! One tire had 6 large welts, the others all had 4 each! I raise Hell and they agreed to take these back and send me another set of their "newer Goodyears" if I paid frieght. I finally got them to agree to pay for half the frieght, (which they eventually screwed me out of and never paid) and set them back. The third set arrived, they were no better. I was disgusted with the whole ordeal and they are still on the car. So after $1800 ( tires, frieght, mounting and balancing 3 times) later I have a set of funny looking tires, that perform well but make me cringe everytime I catch a glimpse of the sidewalls in the light. I have spoke to Coker about this and they said they would guarantee that I would not have this problem and if I did they would take them back, pay frieght and the mounting and balancing. I just checked and they have redline radials so I don't know where you heard they didn't? If you don't car about the appearance of the tires then go with Diamondback. If you do avoid them like the plague, their customer service and concern for my satisfaction was nill.

Wow! I can see why you are upset. But when I ordered my Diamond Backs they only had Firestone, BFG, and Michelin redlines, no mention at all of Goodyear or UniRoyal. When did all this happen? When I used the search function on Coker's website for '67 Chev. Corvette, all that was found was two varieties of bias ply tires, no radials. I searched the radial tires and saw they have BFG redlines radials, but those are available from many other sites for less money, I was expecting the Coker radials, they looked much better but they don't have any. I really hope my Michelins don't have those issues, if so I guess I will be forced to get the BFG ones.

Wow Guys I now know what's wrong with the tires on a 67 marroon BB I bought in eleven years ago. They only had about 200 on them when I bought the car. If they are a little low on air they handle like a wet handful of noodles. They redlines don't stay clean even sitting still. Hard as heck too get the redines looking red. I once used a red marker on them and that didn't even last. Before I buy another set of redines tire I think I would go Kesley tires. What do you think of those tires. Dale

I checked with my brother, who sold Goodyear tires for the last 45 years, and he said these are obviously flawed seconds that were sold off at fire sale prices to others. These tires would have been rejected at the plant QC for these gross imperfections and would never have had a "Goodyear" label or seal on them.

I checked Kelsey last week, they have no redline radials.

If you want to DRIVE the car, get a set of high-speed rated blackwalls.

Agreed, but some really like the look of the redlines (I do), and one issue here is a manufacturer selling flawed seconds tires for premium prices.

For what it is worth, I've had Coker redlines (205-75-15's) on my 67 for the past 5 years and am happy with them. Although you take the standard deduct at judging, for just highway cruising and going to events, I think they are just great. I have about 10K miles on them and when they are due, I'll probably replace them with Cokers.
