Re: 64 327 Hydraulic lifter/tappet noise.
What Clem recomended is the answer but remember which rocker stopped the noise and make sure the nut is not to loose and backing off. if the noise returns down the road at the same place you will probably be replacing the cam and the damaged lifter.
Cam break in on a new engine some times gets neglected. Also the break in lube on the lobes is not good enough. Also some times the rebulder forgets to spin each lifter to make sure it will be able to spin at start up.
With luck you will get it with the adjustment. I would use 1/4 turn down on the hydraulic lifters instead of the recomended. they run better and it will let you know sooner if you are loosing a cam lobe.

Re: 64 327 Hydraulic lifter/tappet noise.
Mike, whats the oil pressure doing when the engines hot.
rechecking the lifter adjustment as prev. posters is a good idea, after zero lash,a full turn on rocker is acceptiable or slightly less. See if you can tell which side is making the noise and pull that rocker cover side first.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top
