I AM TRYING TO HELP AN OLD FRIEND COME UP WITH A VALUE OF HIS CAR . I KNOW WHAT IT COSTS TO RESTORE ONE BUT I NEED TO DETERMINE A SELLING VALUE OF THIS CAR AS IT SITS NOW.
HERE ARE THE DETAILS :
1966 COUPE
MAROON/ SADDLE
ORGINAL OWNER (HE ORDERED THE CAR NEW)
SOME DOCUMENTATION (POP)
350 HP
A/C
POWER WINDOWS
"REAL' SIDE EXHAUST CAR,
4 SPEED
VYNAL INTERIOR
NO OTHER OPTIONS

HERE'S THE BAD NEWS , 130,000 MILES , HASN'T RUN IN YEARS , FRAME IS JUNK ( NEEDS REPLACED), ORGINAL REBUILDABLE SHORT BLOCK COMES WITH THE CAR, BUT HAS AN INCORRECT MOTOR IN IT NOW, CORRECT CARB MISSING, NEVER HIT BODY BUT HAS 4 FLAIRS , BUMPERS HAVE HOLES IN THEM, IT NEEDS A TOTAL RESTORATION, HAS BEEN STORED INSIDE FOR LAST 15 YEARS BUT HE DROVE IT 12 MONTHS A YEAR FOR YEARS IN OHIO "S SNOW AND SALT. WHAT DO YOU THINK IT'S WORTH AT 2010 PRICES ? WOULD BE A NICE CAR DONE , BUT???

15 to 20K tops. Sounds like a neat car, but will need a ton of $$$$ thrown at it !

Hard to put a value on this one without inspecting it. Just playin' the game !

Guess a guess, but I'd think 75k + to a total restoration. The A/C is the value add.

At first glance I agree with Tom, although I would'nt pay more than $3k to $5k for it, especially with the frame issues. However, you or your friend should do some research to find the value. Check the "sales" sites and see what you find. That will help a lot. Here are a few.

at 15 - 20K I think you'd be upside down in no time. JMHO.

You have to think back to the last time you saw a 1 owner, factory side exhaust, air conditioned car for 15K. If you parked that car in your front yard with a for sale sign at 15K, you would have a crowd like you've never seen !!!

You would be upside down in a car like this even if you got it for free, but it still has pretty good value, even if it's in rough shape.

You have to think back to the last time you saw a 1 owner, factory side exhaust, air conditioned car for 15K. If you parked that car in your front yard with a for sale sign at 15K, you would have a crowd like you've never seen !!!

You would be upside down in a car like this even if you got it for free, but it still has pretty good value, even if it's in rough shape.

The problem with a one owner car is that once you buy it, it becomes a 2 owner car. Put it on ebay-I've seen worse cars go for a lot more than I ever expected.

I hate to be the one to say it ....but the car is worth more if he parted it out. (Which I would never do if it were mine) But if your friend really is in need of money he'd get more if parted out. The A/C set up is worth over 5 thousand all by itself!!

Tom, you may have a crowd, but, as a seller, the question I would like an answer to is "Do I have a real buyer in that crowd with a car priced at $15K?"

If the frame is trash,I bet the birdcage is too. If thats the case? Find another Vette to restore. IMHO

Thanks For Everyones Input. I Thought That Maybe It Would Be Worth Around $10k . The Owner Was Thinking More. I Read Each Post And I Agree With Them All. Restoration Cost Would Be Very Expensive . Parting It Out You Would Probably Get The Most But It Would Be Very Time Consuming . Thanks For The Help!
