Hey Ken,

I just had a look at the tach. There is a line, but it has two colours. It begins with what looks like ORANGE and then turns into RED. On mine, the Orange begins at 5,300 but the true Red line begins at 5,600. Do you know what I mean? What do you think?

That's it. Many times a lot of small things can add up. Most people, if they are trying to pass a car off as a BB would not know or take the time to do the subtle things like this. I am posting a picture of my tach 71 454.

The only issue i have with the sway bar, tach etc is that I don't know if these parts are original to the car. The car has been completely striped and rebuilt and we did not find any other information or clues regarding the original motor etc. It's a tough one.

These questions regarding factory original option configuration come up frequently. The bottom line is there are NO factory records to support US built/delivered Corvettes for your model year.

The way you 'verify' is by forensics and/or prior owner search. BOTH methods have pitfalls in terms of time/cost/accuracy...

If you are not a member of the Australian NCRS chapter, I suggest you join and become active. Our lads down under (both Aussie & Kewie) are GREAT fellas who'll help you along the path with your Corvette!

I know, I've been down under several times to help teach & judge, mate...
