    Rocker molding trim mistake

I put a new set of aftermarket rocker moldings on my car and managed to put a slight scartch on the drivers side molding. Well, that wasn't bad enough. I decided to break out some 1,000 grit sand paper and buff the 1/4" long surface scratch into submission. But now I have this wonderful and ever growing blight (about the size of a quarter) on my molding. I know they are coated with something. I tried a small amount of clear coat but it did not help. Does anyone know what coating is used on these moldings? Is it a matte finish clear coat?

    Thanks,
    Bruce

    Bruce -

The originals were clear-anodized; dunno if the reproductions are or not.

      John,
Thank you for responding. Yes, you are right. I called Ecklers after reading your post and found out. I ordered another one. These cars can turn a grown man into a OCD nut case.

If you wish to remove the anodizing, use oven cleaner in a well vented area.
