armrest color on the door panel

I have a '64 conv. with red/white trim. According to Noland's book, the color of the armrests on the door panels should be the same as the carpet, i.e. red. But according to the JG, it should be white as the seat. Which one should I follow?

Have your door panels been replaced? If not, what color are the arm rests now?

I think the panel was white, but painted black now, you can see some white behind screws. The armrest was replaced black now.

Also, is there a good way to remove vinyl paint? Or just paint white over the black again? I was just going to buy a new repo set and save the hassel.

Need little help here, does anyone know the right color for the armrests on the door panels in a 2-tone trim? the lighter or the darker one? Or both are correct?

On a Mar64, blk/w interior - original door panels and arm rest are white.
Have seen a lot of red/w interiors and all had white door/arm rests.

Note the repo arm rests are not quit correct so I would spray.
