Does anyone have clear close up picture of an original passenger side inner fender of a 1966 427 car. I need a picture of the area where the expansion tank would bolt if it where a small block car. I want a pic of the 4 factory divets in the inner fender thus the lack of an expansion tank on a big block car.

Re: 1966 427 corvette inner fender?
As Rich noted, there will be skived globs of bond in those four holes. Those holes were drilled in every inner fender by the panel molding supplier, and they were filled with bond in the Body Shop on big-block cars.- Top

Re: 1966 427 corvette inner fender?
When I got my 66 L-72, the original block was gone and it had a 67 427 with a blank pad and an L88 intake. The stencil you see in the pic was just barely showing through the fading blackout paint on the pass side skirt. I had no idea what it's significance was and still don't, but it is the bore and stroke of a 63 mystery motor or a 63 Z-11 engine. The odd thing about it is that it appears to have been painted on top of the blue overspray and under the blackout. Of course it's probable that it was a repaint, but who knows why it's there. The car originally came with sidepipes, tele column, knockoffs, teakwood wheel and softtop only. i can only guess that the original engine was replaced with a stroker or one of the engines mentioned at one time. Haven't been able to track anymore history as the car has been out of commision since 72 or 73.- Top
