I have extensively researched most of the posts regarding cleaning-up the aluminum dual quad manifold. I have tried Eagle 1 Mag cleaner for coarse aluminum and it still left the dark colored spots in a variety of places on the manifold I just acquired. I selectively tried lacquer thinner and brake cleaner and scoured various segments but to no avail. The dis-colorations remain. Others have recommended using oven brite cleaner and lime away. But I have some concern about damaging the finish on the manifold. I am tempted to go the route of the procedure I recorded many years ago regarding the spraying/brushing of lacquer thinner/Krylon dull aluminum paint. Before i do that, wanted to check if someone has used this process and if good results were obtained. Or, other than sending it out for refinishing, if there is some other "scrubbing" recommendation I should consider. Thanks.

Re: C1 Cleaning Dual Quad Manifold
Hi Richard,
I had the same problem & tried some Aircondition acid coil cleaner & it took all the stains away but still didn't look just rite so I sprayed it with "Alumnablast" paint from one of the corvette parts suppliers & it stills looks nice this paint looks most correct for that satan finish although I do not use the car for street use for now, so I do not know how tuff it is, but spilled gas on it & it stayed on , it still looks great after hours of run time.- Top

Re: C1 Cleaning Dual Quad Manifold
Used Sea Foam, which helped somewhat. But, given the texture of the cast aluminum there was till some residue in the "pitted" areas. Used rubbing compound and elbow grease and it removed it while maintaining the relative dull finish.- Top

Re: C1 Cleaning Dual Quad Manifold
I think some dissagree but glass beed blasting is hard to beat.
you can take a fine SS or brass brush and rub it afterwards for some shine or coat it with rustolium clear (not gloss). rustolium handles the heat also.
