P.O.A. valve update kit

My factory air '67 has a bad P.O.A. and possibly bad expansion valve. Has anybody had experience with the kit which replaces the P.O. A. valve with essentially a switch that cycles the compressor on and off as needed to prevent freeze up ?It's available from Old Air and the various catalogs. I know it won't "judge", but does it do a reliable job?I plan on continuing using R12.By the way, Old Air does NOT rebuild original P.O.A. valves
