When I turn hard over to the right my horns go off. There was an aftermarket horn in the car when I purchased it which did not work and I replaced it with a set of correct horns that work except for the above problem. I get alot of nasty looks when taking a right turn so I disconnected them. I suspect some sort of short in the steering column. Please help. Is it hard to get to and check the wires inside the column. I don't want to start pulling things apart unless I know I can get them back together. Any other thoughts would be helpful Thanks in Advance, Bob.

Re: 66 Horn sounds when I Turn Right
I had the same problem with my '67. It turned out to be a worn out turn signal switch under the steering wheel (it seems like almost everything electrical in the car goes through this switch). Replace it and you should be fine.- Top

Re: 66 Horn sounds when I Turn Right
One other possibility is there is a black vinyl/plastic insulating ring located in the hub assembly about 2 1/2 " diameter in size that the wheel goes around. As you turn the steering wheel it creates a wear pattern in this ring. On mine the ring had worn thin & turning the steering wheel it would set off the horn. It looked ok but when I held it up to a bright light you could see a thin area.- Top
