So, I'm putting on the final touches on my 89 and I am down to the injectors. GM part number is 17112285. (1800 bucks ouch) Of which I found some on Ebay for a lot less. However my question is when they arrived today, they are stamped with 17113765 and the rep says thats just the casing number but still the correct GM part 17112285. He also told me its a Delphi injector. Is he correct or am I being mis-lead. I can send them back if I need to! Anyone know the replacement # and brand? thanks Doug

I think he's shooting you straight. Very often the part number that might be found on a part is not the part number of the assembly but just the part number for a component of the assembly. I'm pretty sure that's the case here. GM #17113765 was never a finished part number so that all fits.
I'm pretty sure that the GM #17112285 is a DELPHI-manufactured injector and if the injectors you have are GM #17112285 (which I think is pretty sure) then they have to be of the original manufacture. However, these could be RE-MANUFACTURED injectors rather than new. That may be why they are not in original GM or Delco packaging. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 89' Replacement Fuel Injectors
You could purchase brand new GM #17112285 injectors from competitive Delco dealers for about $105/each or about $840/set. Still, 300 bucks for a set of re-manufactured injectors is quite a bit less than that.
As far as how reliable and durable the re-manufactured injectors are, I do not know. I have never used any. But, they seem to be popular. I just do not understand how they can "re-manufacture out" all of the wear components of these injectors and render them :like new".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 89' Replacement Fuel Injectors
These injectors have become a thorn in the side of those that have to deal with alcohol fuels. They are falling like dominoes. You can get re-mans or bosh that will work with the alcohol gas and live. I would never use a NOS injector for that reason.

Re: 89' Replacement Fuel Injectors
The original Multec (Delphi) injectors were designed in a manner that flowed fuel over the injector coil to cool the injector and prolong life. Unfortunately, that desigh was from the days of little or no alcohol in gasoline, unlike today where 10% is pretty normal, and since mixing is done locally at the distributor, the ratio can vary widely from that "safe" level. I went with Bosch units that are a drop in replacement and the car has never run so well (89)Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 89' Replacement Fuel Injectors
Last year i had to replace the injectors on my 89 callaway . The injectors are the same as all L98's. From the Callaway Forum I was given the name of Jon Banner at FUEL INJECTION COMPONENTS in Alanta . He supplied correct injectors with the o-rings and shipping for about $45. each. He enlightened me about the ethanol and the problems it causes in the fuel system. He said to add sta-bil with every fillup.
His contact number 770-888-1662. Mention the ncrs- Top
