    original LT-1 cam?

looking at some old parts i took out of my 70 lt-1 motor and was wondering, is the original lt1 cam? the number i found on it are GM13 and 2182. it has some color marks too. pink band with an orange dot in the middle and it has a green stripe on the end made with a marker. think its original?

      Mike -

It's probably original - that's the last 4 digits of the correct casting number for an LT-1 camshaft.

3972182 is the finished camshaft number, and the last four digits are embedded in the cast blanks. As originally built, OE cams had unique blanks so finish machining of the lobes was minimized.

3972178 is the assembly of camshaft and indexing pin, which is what was sold over the counter.
