    1969 vaccumn motor

On my 1969 Corvette the wiper access cowl opens when I start the car. And won't close when it's shut off. I just had the dash apart, could I have disrupted something? I can close it manually.

I have also found one hose not connected on either end between the vaccumn and the wipers.

    James,

There are several hoses under the dash that connect to the wiper vacuum system as well as the head light system. Check to make sure that all your hoses are connected. There is a diagram I believe on Dr rebuild that will help you out as well as several posts on the NCRS site on 68-72 vacuum systems. Good luck, your problem could be simple or a major headache.

      Joe,

Thank you very much. We had the dash pulled out to replace some parts, and I'm assuming we put one to the hoses on wrong.

I needed to hear from someone that that is what the problem could have been.

I've heard others this systerm could be a problem, I'm hoping there's a simple solution.

        Re: 1969 vaccumn motor

Vacuum for the wiper door enters the cockpit through the firewall and runs to the wiper door solenoid (mounted on the back of the tach), then on to the under steering column vac override switch and finally back out of the cockpit to the wiper door vacuum relay valve.

The truth table for actuation is vac vented = wiper door open. So any of the vac switches along the vac path that are left open (or a hose 'hanging in the breeze) will tell the wiper door to open up...
