68 L79 Valve Cover intake paint

Morning everyone,
Cleaning engine compartment and I discover orange intake paint on the chrome valve covers. Not going to remove anything until I hear but I thought the covers were installed after engine painted. This also could have been a previous owner that left covers on while touching up. Thanks, Jeff

Interesting, the more I clean the more it looks like GM overspray. Call me silly ?

The valve covers were on the engine when the engine was painted. In the case of the 1968 L-79 chrome covers, I believe they used some sort of "mask" to cover them. They would have done the same thing for earlier Corvettes with aluminum valve covers as well as later Corvettes with aluminum valve covers.

Thank you Joe, It's on the leading edge only. There is a couple of small splats on sides.These will stay. Jeff
