Guys, I am trying to get my drive train ready to run for the first time after having engine and transmission rebuilt for my '56. The 3 speed shifter is NOS and the linkage parts are either new or used in good condition. In the past most shifters I have worked with have an alignment hole or slot where you can set it in neutral enabling you to set the shift rods. The Corvette 3 speed shifter I have has no such provision that I can see. Can anyone enlighten me as to how the adjustment procedure goes on a C-1 three speed shifter. Thanks in advance! Re: Three Speed Shifter Adjustment
Brooks,
Section 7 Sheet 1 of the 57 AIM has the procedure. There's a detent in the levers when in neutral........allegedly. Hopefully yours is there.

Re: Three Speed Shifter Adjustment
Richard, thanks for your reply to my post. I have seen the same info you posted but so far I have not seen any kind of detent in the shifter with it in neutral. What am I missing? Brooks Glover (2141)- Top

Re: Three Speed Shifter Adjustment
The "detent" mentioned on the A.I.M. sheet refers to the detent in the neutral position for the levers on the transmission side cover, not the levers on the shifter. The shifter is in the neutral position when you can freely move it laterally between the R-1 and 2-3 shift planes.
Just follow the instructions on the A.I.M. sheet and you'll be in business.- Top
