    A 329C at a Great Great price!

For all of us looking for a 329C"W" here is a 329C for only $795.00 USD. On our favorite channel for NOS parts . Item 310026794417

    Bid before it's too late!

I would really like to find one, but not like this so I am just venting here, I guess.

This seller comes up with a lot of real NOS items. I can't figure out how he finds all this stuff. In the past, I've bought a few items from him myself. He NEVER lists anything at a "bargain basement" price, though. But why should he? If someone is willing to pay $795 for a piece like this, why should he sell it for less? For this part, I'd say it's likely someone will "bear the freight"---maybe not during this listing, but sometime. This guy is patient; if it doesn't sell this time, he'll wait and list it again and usually for the same price.

I've seen cases in which he overestimates the value of something, though. I know this because, in a case like that, I know of sources that I could buy the same piece for less so, obviously, I would not pay what he's asking (assuming I wanted the part, at all). In this case, though, he's got a piece that's VERY hard to find and I expect someone will buy it. In my mind, it's stupid to pay this kind of money for a part like this but some folks don't think so.

I note that it doesn't have the "Best Way To" lettering, so it isn't even the most valuable/desirable version. He's way over on this one.

The thing about these air cleaner elements is that they're among the parts that I call "trendy". In addition to air cleaner elements, this includes items like distributor caps, 67-82 master cylinder covers, shock absorbers, 69-72 embossed oil filters, and 65-67 big block oil caps. Folks seem willing to pay HUGE dollars for "original" and "correct" "trendy" items.

As Patrick notes, it's not even a "Best Way To Protect ..." A329C. It is a later service replacement, so it would'nt even get full judging points after spending 800 bucks!

Here's the real deal (and, no, it's not for sale):

Joe - You are so spot on, trendy items, high dollar and many not correct. Like painted BB oil caps that were originally black oxide - a very hard to reproduce finish.

On the filters - there are others out there for only $500 and I am sure with time more will surface and originality will be exposed.

William - is this a 14" x3" filter? What were the original OEM applications?

The seller currently has over 1700 items for sale. I can't imagine that one person could be doing this out of their house. Maybe they buy out inventory from dealerships that have closed.

                        Hey Bill,

That 329C is a 401K plan right there!

                        Forget Gold, buy Filters.

For what its worth this filter has been on Ebay for at least 2 years with no takers. This seller is a bit "stout" with his expectations and as Patrick points out it is not even correct. Real 329C's are hard to find but they are worth no where near $795.
There is also a funky "embossed 329C that has been on for longer than 2 years at around $200 and nobody has wasted their money on that either.

...due to what happened at Carlisle, I'd consider "gas caps" also as "trendy" at the moment.

...I have a case of 329s, what are they worth?
