    54 Grill Teeth

I ordered a No. 4 grill tooth for the 54 from CC and it is one that would go on my 58, only about 1 1/8 wide at the back, the 54 is 2 inch plus at the back, flares out more, 54-57 like this and where to get one Thanks, Brad.

    Re: 54 Grill Teeth

Brad, I see no one has answered your question. Your description is somewhat confusing to me, but I believe what you are saying is you ordered a 53-57 grill tooth, but received a 58 instead. Sounds to me like CC sent you the wrong part. I would contact them, they have a simple return policy - no pre-authorization necessary. CC carries teeth for both configurations, so you should not have a problem with this. But be advised aftermarket teeth may not exactly match the original. But only very slight differences is in radius on edges I believe. Unless you need correctness for judging, then this should be okay and not be recognizable. -Dan-

        Re: 54 Grill Teeth

Can someone measure their grill teeth on a 54 and tell me what the widest point at the flare is, mine is a little over two inch, the one C.C, sent me is about 11/8 and they say this is what they have always sold for the 54, the one thy sent me would fit on my 58. Thanks, Brad.

          Re: 54 Grill Teeth

Brad, I will measure one of my 57 teeth for you today. The grill is out of the car and will be easy to do. It is stored in a different garage and I have to go dig it out.
I looked at the Corvette Central site last night. I think it is incorrect in the way they list individual teeth. For complete grills they advertise 53-57 and 58-60 separately, but for individual teeth the say 53-60. I know 53-57 are the same, but 58-60 I believe are different. Perhaps someone can yea or nay this for me.
I can't believe no one has chimed in on this for you. There are lots of 53-57 people on this forum and questions like this generally do not go unanswered this long. -Dan-

Brad, checked my 54-61 P&A's, Group 1.268 & all list tooth number 4 as part number 3706427 in use from 53-60. Measured an original 1957 (know it's original because I have a box of original grille teeth that I've taken off of '57's through the years) #4 grille tooth for you. Width across the widest part of the back is 1 3/8". Height is 7 3/16" tall. Side (spear tip to rear) is 3 11/16". Gary....

Thanks Gary, I did not get to measure one of my teeth today and I am going out of town tomorrow morning for the weekend and I was worried about leaving Brad hanging. -Dan-

Guys, I was loooking at the setup of the teeth on 54 car just before heading out, seems they might be set in place wrong, will look at them Sun morning and respond back. Thanks, Brad.

Posistioning was fine, took off no. four (driver side) and it is a correct 4, it was a wider measurment at back side to side, about 17/8, maybe cause of age and overtight on and off through the years, it was cracked bad so bagged it and put on repro which measures about 1 3/16 across back, it is closer to other side meas. now with new tooth on. Thanks again for the info. Brad, now waiting my turn to get the correct soft top on the 58 and it is all done, white on blue with blue top.

Brad, FWIW Dave Brigham measured his original Bowtie '53 grille teeth and 1 thru 6 measure 1.35" and C is 1.5" wide. Gary....

Is everyone in agreement that 53-60 teeth are the same, except that not all of them were used in later years? This is what I've always understood to be true.
