    Son of Serpentine Belt

I am following up an earlier thread on 1995 - 1996 Serpentine Belts.
I was able to get some photos of an original Serpentine Belt still on a 1996 LT1 that now has 5400 miles. As mentioned by Pat in the past, these belts get a going over and the markings are soon gone. As noted this belt has only 5400 miles on it and the markings are starting to go.

Interesting Charlie. It seems that the numbers after the yellow square are different on many belts. They are all different on my original belt, my replacement, your replacement, and this one.

      Pat------

I'm virtually certain that the numbers to which you refer are some sort of date code and production code. So, they will always vary. The only way to get a belt that would match the original belt with respect to every number and code would be to buy a SERVICE belt from old stock that was manufactured about the same time as the belt used in PRODUCTION on one's car. The chances of doing that now are slim-to-none.

        Makes sense, thanks Joe.
